Focus of Research

EHL researchers in cooperation with industry sponsors and faculty from other universities conduct cutting edge international hospitality management and industry research. EHL researchers actively engage in creating new research-based knowledge in domains that are essential for the hospitality industry by publishing in discipline academic journals and other peer-reviewed publications, presenting papers at international conferences, and contributing to meetings hosted by EHL. Moreover, EHL’s research center has twenty-two “LHRC fellows”. EHL’s research center will be launched 09-12-2014 and will use an internet-based platform to disseminate the research-based hospitality management and industry knowledge generated by LHRC fellows and EHL students to hospitality industry managers and leaders and EHL’s stakeholders, including the school’s students, alumni, executive committee, board of governors, international advisory board, and industry partners and Sponsors.

Possibilities of Collaboration with students

Bachelor thesis
The Bachelor thesis is one of the diploma works proposed to Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management students during the last year of their studies at EHL. It spreads over approximately 30 weeks and the deliverable is a document that explains the scientific research that a student has completed. The writing of a bachelor thesis proceeds from general theory and reflection to possible implementation.

Student Business Projects (SBP)
Groups of 5 graduating students work full-time to help companies or start-ups develop their project. The students invest 2000 hours of high-quality work to help develop a business or create a new one. For more information about the Student Business Project, contact Dr. Christine Demen-Meier, Tel: + 41 (0) 21 785 14 92, Christine.Demen-meier@ehl.ch

Internships at EHL are an integral part of the programmes - not just a “practical component” tacked on as a part-time or summer job. They are a full-time period of real professional experience and are planned to be taken at a specific point in the studies – a point which allows a student to be well prepared, with training that is useful to future employers and enables a student to move rapidly to a position of responsibility.
